  • Taffeta tends to yield a stiff, starched-like cloth that holds its shape better than many other fabrics and does not sag or drape.
  • This fabric is slightly lustrous and woven in a ribbed weave style.
  • This is a great alternative to silk with a noticeable 20% horizontal stretch capability.

  • 5% spandex present in stretch variation

  • do not use bleach or heavy starch products
  • Avoid wringing the clothes out excessively; this could cause damage to the fabric and increase wrinkles over time

Tips

  • Pre-washing before stitching is recommended to ensure that the fabric does not shrink of lose shape later.
  • Using a very hot iron can damage or destroy this fabric.
  • Sharp scissors works best as dull scissors may fray this fabric.
  • Use weights instead of pins to prevent gaps. Only use pins in places that will not be visible.
  • For best results: 70/10 or 80/12 microtex needles
  • Sewing a straight line along the edges of this fabric can prevent fraying when washing before sewing.
